Diabetes Type 1 - I think I hate it more than she does.

It's been a little over a month now. It is has been very, very hard. Just everything. Don't want to bring everyone down. But it really sucks having to give 9 pricks/shots a day.

Jasmyne's B-day is coming up shortly we are going to have a B-day party for her this up coming weekend.

Things have not really gotten any really better. She is calming down quicker but like tonight she pulled a 260 blood sugar level (Normal is 80-200). So luck her tonight she got 3 hits before bed.

1 Blood Test
2 Shots. (1 for the High level) (1 for 24 hour support)

It has been really hard on everyone in the family. Today she was at home sick so she was not in great moods to start with. I have been keeping up with her. Made the commitment to her that for every blood test/shot that I would get one too. (Just with out the meds in it). So yeah.. I guess you can say "I'm feeling it".


Have been doing a lot of research all over. I guess when something like this strikes your own born you want to know more than the experts.. Found this study but Jasmyne is not old enough to partake in it....

And it just doesn't get better than that.

I can not wait to hear the results of the study. Or if they are open the research wider more than 15. While I don't approve of making humans test subjects this really is a promising step. Not just stopping it but reversing it.

I guess you really don't know how lucky we have it being "normal" till something breaks in your body.

One last comment is this Jasmyne was on Risperdal before she got this awful diabetes. There is a clear link of diabetes and Risperdal. If you or your child are on this protect them and get off it. Research the medications before. Understand the risks. I think both Karen and I had not a clue of the risks nor did the doctors do proper checking. Just here are the drugs see ya in 6 months when your child develops problems. And that ... Was that.

No testing. No liver function testing. No diabetes testing.. Nada nothing. Just here is the pill for the the problem..

Risperdal side effects-Risperdal may cause diabetes, coma or death

In a recent study, Risperdal side effects increased a patient's chances of developing diabetes by about 50 percent compared to older antipsychotic drugs prescribed for schizophrenia and bipolar mania.

Janssen Pharmaceutica, part of Johnson & Johnson, misled physicians by minimizing the health risks of prescribing Risperdal (generic risperdone).

Clinical trials testing Risperdal in Alzheimer patients heightened concerns that the occurrence of serious Risperdal side effects is higher than previously thought. Among the 764 Risperdal study participants, 29 cases of stroke and stroke-related side effects were seen, plus four deaths.

I am taking a break from school two weeks that is. Just everything.... My last class started on the day we went in to the hospital. I struggled to make the grade. It was bad. Work was also tough but the people I work for at Xerox are great . Xerox is a great company.
